Of all the Tokyo landmarks, Tokyo Skytree is the one that comes to the Disney resort rather than the other way round: a direct bus leaves from the Tokyo DisneySea and Tokyo Disneyland bus stops for Tokyo Skytree Town, ¥1,000, no reservation, about 45–55 minutes — no Tokyo Station, no transfers, no stairs. At the other end you get the 634-metre tower with its two observation decks, the Sumida Aquarium that small children often prefer to the view, and Tokyo Solamachi, a 300-shop mall with a food floor and the baby rooms a family needs. It is also the Tokyo spot that pairs most naturally with Asakusa, a 20-minute walk across the river.
Who is this for?
- Families who want one high view of Tokyo and would rather ride a bus than navigate subway transfers with a stroller.
- A rainy or cold day: deck, aquarium and mall are all indoors (the view is the only thing weather can spoil).
- An Asakusa day that needs an indoor second half.
- Anyone comparing Skytree with SHIBUYA SKY: Skytree is higher, enclosed, cheaper for kids and bus-accessible; SHIBUYA SKY is open-air and more photogenic.
What to expect
The observation decks
- Tembo Deck (350 m): three floors with a 360-degree view, a glass floor section, a café and a shop. On a clear winter day you see Mount Fuji; on an average day the sprawl to the horizon is the point.
- Tembo Galleria (450 m): a spiralling glass corridor climbing another 100 metres — the “walking in the sky” part. Bought as a combo or added on the day at machines on the deck (¥1,400 adults / ¥700 children).
Hours (October 2026): 10:00–22:00 weekdays, 9:00–22:00 Saturdays and Sundays, last entry one hour before closing. The sweet spots are right at opening (short lines, best visibility) and the hour before sunset (daylight, sunset and night view on one ticket, but the busiest slot — book that time in advance).

Sumida Aquarium (Solamachi 5F–6F)
A mid-size, beautifully lit aquarium: Magellanic penguins in an open pool you look down on, a jellyfish zone, a huge “Edo goldfish” gallery, and sea lions. Open daily — weekdays 10:00–20:00, weekends and holidays 9:00–21:00, entry until one hour before closing. Adults ¥2,700, high school ¥2,000, elementary and junior high ¥1,400, children 3+ ¥900. It is dim, quiet and stroller-friendly, and takes about 90 minutes — on a rainy day with a toddler it can be the main event, with the deck skipped entirely.
Tokyo Solamachi — the mall underneath
All floors 10:00–21:00; restaurant floors (6F–7F and 30F–31F) 11:00–23:00. A large food court and a basement food hall solve lunch; the 30th–31st floor restaurants have a free-ish view (you pay for the meal). Family facilities: baby rooms with changing tables, nursing rooms, hot water and microwaves on 1F, 3F and 4F; the tower itself has stroller parking on 4F, limited stroller rental, lockers on 4F and nursing rooms on the deck. Character shops (including a large Pokémon Center and Ghibli, Kirby Café by reservation) are here too — a smaller sibling of Tokyo Character Street.
How to get there from the Tokyo Disney Resort area
Direct bus (easiest from the parks and the Maihama hotels): the Skytree Shuttle (Tobu Bus / Keisei Bus) runs between Tokyo Skytree Town (stop No. 2) – Kinshicho Station – (Kasai Station on some runs) – Tokyo DisneySea – Tokyo Disneyland. Adults ¥1,000, children ¥500; 16 departures from the parks (TDS from 9:40 to 21:25; TDL from 9:50 to 21:35) and 17 toward the parks (from Skytree Town 6:50–19:50). About 45 minutes to DisneySea, 55 to Disneyland. No reservations — first come, and standing is not allowed, so for a sunset return line up 15 minutes early. Cash, Suica/PASMO and contactless credit cards are accepted on board.
By train from Urayasu Station (Tozai Line): Tozai to Kudanshita, Hanzomon Line to Oshiage (the station under the tower) — about 45–50 minutes, IC ¥252, one transfer. Faster but pricier: Tozai to Nihombashi, Toei Asakusa Line to Oshiage — about 36 minutes, ¥359.
By train from Maihama: Keiyo Line to Hatchobori, Hibiya Line to Ningyocho, Toei Asakusa Line to Oshiage — about 45 minutes, roughly ¥540 (estimate). Honestly, take the bus.
At Oshiage Station, follow the signs for Tokyo Skytree Town; the tower entrance is on the 4th floor, about 7 minutes from the gates by escalator and elevator.
Suica/PASMO works on all of the above; contactless credit cards work on Tokyo Metro, Toei and the bus, but not on the JR Keiyo Line.
A plan that uses the bus both ways
| Time | What |
|---|---|
| 9:50 | Skytree Shuttle from the Tokyo Disneyland bus stop (or 9:40 from DisneySea) |
| 10:45 | Arrive Skytree Town; Sumida Aquarium first (quiet in the morning) |
| 12:30 | Lunch at Solamachi’s food floor |
| 14:00 | Tembo Deck with a pre-booked time (or walk to Asakusa, 20 minutes, and come back for sunset) |
| 16:30 | Solamachi shops; snack |
| 17:30 | Bus back to the parks or hotels, arriving around 18:30 |
For sunset on the deck, book the slot one hour before sunset and take a later bus (last departures 19:50 toward the parks — after that, train).
With kids, and when it rains
- Strollers: allowed up to the deck (elevators); stroller parking on 4F if you prefer; limited rental.
- Queues: with a timed online ticket the entry wait is short; the counter line on weekends is the one to avoid (and it costs ¥500 more per ticket).
- Rain or fog: the deck is enclosed, but a cloudy day means no view — check the live camera on the official site before buying a same-day ticket, and fall back on the aquarium and mall.
- Heights: the glass floor is small and optional.
Pair it with
- Asakusa — 20 minutes on foot over the Sumida River Walk; temple in the morning, tower in the afternoon.
- Ryogoku: sumo and the Edo-Tokyo Museum — 10 minutes by subway.
- Tokyo Character Street at Tokyo Station — if the Solamachi character shops leave you wanting more.
- Day trips into Tokyo: routes and fares
